Destiny 2: Shadow and Order Major Update Delayed to June 9, Renamed for Expanded Content

Bungie has announced a significant delay for Destiny 2's next major update, previously known as Shadow and Order. The update is now scheduled to launch on June 9, 2026, and will be renamed to reflect its expanded scope.

The delay stems from large revisions and expansions to include substantial quality-of-life updates. While specific details will be revealed closer to release, Bungie has confirmed several key additions:

  • Expanded Tiered Gear: Now available for all Raid and Dungeon activities.
  • Pantheon 2.0: A new iteration of the Pantheon system.
  • Tier 5 Stats: For Exotic Armors, enhancing their power.
  • Weapon Tier Upgrading: Previously announced, this feature remains a core part of the update.

Leading up to the June launch, players can expect continued routine bug fixes and stability improvements, ongoing portal modifiers, the Guardian Games in March, and a more frequent Iron Banner cadence returning in April.

Bungie will focus its communications on live game content, community activations, and general upkeep through the This Week in Destiny (TWID) posts and official social channels. Further information on the renamed major update and future plans for Destiny 2 will be provided closer to its release.
