Valve has just shipped a significant update for Counter-Strike 2, headlined by the highly anticipated return of Cache, a classic map beloved by the community. This update also brings several quality-of-life improvements across various maps, animations, and sound.
Cache Makes Its Grand Return
Cache is now available in Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes. Veterans of the map will find its familiar three-lane layout intact, rewarding strategic play and teamwork. New players will have the opportunity to learn one of Counter-Strike's most iconic battlegrounds.

Map Adjustments
Beyond Cache, several other maps received notable changes:
- Cache: Added to Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes.
- Dust II: The Mid Box (Xbox) is now uncovered, revealing a previously hidden jump spot. This change is intentional.
- Office: Collision has been enabled on the tarp covering boxes around the CT spawn area.
- Stronghold: Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop.
- Poseidon: Updated to the latest version from the Community Workshop.
Animation and Sound Fixes
The update also addresses several animation and sound issues, enhancing the overall player experience:
ANIMGRAPH 2
- Minor adjustments to viewmodel animations.
- Talon and Karambit knives are now held correctly while defusing.
SOUND
- Minor mix changes and adjustments.
- Fixed an issue where the C4 equip sound was not getting interrupted by other equip sounds.
- Removed the first-person death sound effect that played when the music kit death cue was inaudible.
Miscellaneous Improvements
- Shader fix: Addressed an issue with Ambient Occlusion (AO) when using alpha test, which caused overly dark and chunky silhouettes, particularly noticeable on railings in Mirage.
- Fixed a case where it was possible to hold no weapon by requesting a hand switch immediately after throwing a grenade.
