Apex Legends April 8 Update: Vortex Shield Rework and Bug Fixes
Apex Legends just pushed an update on April 8, 2026, addressing several bug fixes and making significant adjustments to the Vortex Shield mechanic.
Bug Fixes
The latest patch resolves a critical issue with Bot Royale Evolved matches on E-District, which should now start as intended. Additionally, prompts for Wildcard events are now correctly displayed across all languages, improving accessibility for international players. The "Energy Efficient" Wild Card has also been re-enabled, allowing players to utilize its effects once more.
Vortex Shield Adjustments
One of the most notable changes in this update involves the Vortex Shield. Several tactical and ultimate projectiles can no longer be caught by the shield, significantly altering defensive strategies for certain Legends. These include:
- Bangalore's tactical
- Bangalore's ultimate
- Catalyst's tactical
- Caustic's ultimate
- Gibraltar's ultimate
- Sparrow's tactical
Conversely, Vantage's ultimate is now affected by the Vortex Shield, introducing a new counterplay dynamic for her powerful ability.
