Apex Legends April 14 Update: Matchmaking Changes and Bug Fixes Detailed

Apex Legends has rolled out a new update on April 14, 2026, addressing several in-game bugs and implementing significant changes to its matchmaking system. The update aims to enhance game stability and provide a more competitive experience for players.
Bug Fixes
The latest patch resolves several visual and audio issues affecting various Legends and overall game stability:
- Catalyst's Toxic Empress skin now correctly displays its glow visual effects in-match.
- Valkyrie's jetpack handles are no longer missing in specific scenarios.
- Fuse's Knuckle Cluster holder is now properly displayed.
- Wattson players will no longer hear Hardlight rebuilding and being destroyed due to her tactical/ultimate placement in the ring.
- Game stability improvements have been implemented for the Switch 2.
Matchmaking Adjustments
In an effort to improve match quality, Respawn Entertainment has made key adjustments to matchmaking, particularly for high-ranked players and Drop Zone Ranked matches:
- Increased maximum queue times for players at the higher end of Ranked and pubs. This change aims to create tighter skill bands and more competitive games across all lobbies.
- For Drop Zone Ranked matches, the game will now display Ranked tier distribution charts of squads, rather than individual players, consistent with non-Drop Zone lobbies.
Regional Testing: Ranked Map Rotation
Respawn is also testing a new 4-hour Ranked map rotation schedule specifically in the East Asia region for the remainder of the current split. Players are advised against changing servers to participate, as this will likely result in significantly higher ping and a degraded gameplay experience.
